When Does a Friendship Become Unhealthy?
Are you surrounded by friends who engage in unnecessary arguments, political opposition, and constant fighting? If so, these friendships may be harmful, as nothing positive will come from such environments.
If It's Too Much or Too Clingy
Friendships can also become unhealthy when they become too demanding or overwhelming. If someone is constantly needing your attention or support to the point where it becomes draining or affects your well-being, it may be time to reevaluate the relationship.
When a Friendship Stops Being Harmful
On the other hand, if a friendship encourages you to be your best self through adversity, helps you remember important personal habits such as brushing your teeth and showering, and supports you in setting career goals, it is likely not harmful. These are positive influences that should be cherished.
However, watch out for those who consistently seek to bring you down when you get back up. Anybody who continually tries to weaken you after you have recovered is a harmful influence and not a true friend. Such behavior often indicates a toxic dynamic that can be emotionally and psychologically damaging.

This is purely my opinion: when a friendship becomes a bad influence or no longer feels beneficial for both parties, it's a sign of an unhealthy relationship. Sometimes, a positive influence can turn negative, and it's important to identify these changes.
A Friendship is Only as Good as the Independence of Each Person
The independence of each person within a friendship is crucial. When this independence is compromised, either due to internal or external factors, such as personal life stressors, the relationship can deteriorate into a codependent or victim-victimizer dynamic. This may persist until both parties agree to terms that maintain their independence.
It is essential to preserve one's independence in all aspects of life: emotional, financial, personal, and business. If there is any manipulation or abuse, the relationship should be terminated immediately. By maintaining healthy boundaries, you can ensure that your friendships remain positive and supportive rather than detrimental to your well-being.
