The Musicians that Will Remain in My Heart and Soul

Given that my passion for music has been ever-evolving over the years, it's quite challenging to call a definitive list of the musicians/bands that I will love for the rest of my life. However, as a high school student, I can confidently say that the bands I admire are more than just a soundtrack to my life, they are integral to my identity and provide a emotional sanctuary. Here, I offer a brief look into the bands that have left a significant impact on my musical journey:

Waterparks - The Perfect Blend of Pop and Punk

Waterparks is a band whose music is literally the perfect blend of pop and punk. What sets them apart is their creative and original lyrics that revolve around the themes that are important. The band embodies positivity and their members are described by me as 'complete sweethearts'. In November 2018, I had the privilege of meeting them and they held a show for me. Their dedication and passion for their fans is something truly unique. For instance, during my show, a fan requested a drink of water. Rather than a simple response, Awsten (the lead singer) called for the tour manager and brought out two cases of water. He not only gave the fan a bottle but also shared the rest of the water with the audience. His actions embody the genuine care the band has for their fans.

Panic! At The Disco - Lifelong Affection

Panic! At The Disco, on the other hand, have been there for me since I was five years old. I discovered the band with their song Nine in the Afternoon and from that moment on, they have been more than just a part of my life; they are a part of who I am. Although some of their newer content may not sit as well with me as those first few albums, I wouldn't trade my decades-long relationship with this band for anything. I strongly believe that the love and support you give to a band, especially when it's been consistent through the years, is a form of literary love.

Bring Me the Horizon - The Metalcore Side

I am a firm believer that Bring Me the Horizon has a lot more to offer than just their niche in the metalcore genre. Even if I eventually grow out of my metalcore phase, I am certain that some of their content, such as the albums The Spirit Empirical and Amo, will resonate with me. It is also a significant fact that I named myself after the protagonist of their song, indicating a deep connection. However, this will not stop me from appreciating the band even if I leave the metalcore scene. It is a likelihood that I'll always come back to this band, as their journey proves that they are a band with deep emotional roots.

Twenty One Pilots - A Musical Relationship of Hope

The last but certainly not the least on this list is Twenty One Pilots. These musicians are a significant part of my life, especially in 2016, during a time when I faced existential challenges and personal struggles. It was their song Taxi, particularly the lyrics “don't be afraid we're going home,” that helped me regain some of my hope during a particularly dark time. Despite my slight shift in interests, the band remains a profound part of my life.

Honorable Mentions

Some honorable mentions in my musical journey include Sleeping With Sirens and Bring Me the Horizon. Worth mentioning is that both these bands hold a special place in my heart for the same reasons as Bring Me the Horizon. For My Chemical Romance, their music is a testament to my past emotions and I'm hopeful that over time, I can form a deeper appreciation for their entire discography. Lastly, I Don't Know How But They Found Me deserve a mention. Not just for their music, but because of the genuine kindness they showed me at a showcase, and for being some of the sweetest people I have ever met.
