The turning point came in mid-2020 with Black Swan, which left me amazed for the second time. Yet, I remained unconvinced. K-pop groups often sound similar, and in my ears, their music was flat and boring. This was my opinion at the time.

Then came Mic Drop. I discovered it through MMD miku miku dance, which parodied Attack on Titan. Curiosity led me to watch the music video, and I was astounded. Despite not knowing the meaning of the lyrics, Mic Drop hit me hard. It was not just the song’s music or sound that drew me in, but also the aesthetic of the Fake Love music video and the deep meaning behind the lyrics of DNA.

From that point, I stepped into the BTS fandom in a more organized manner. I listened to their other Korean songs out of sequence, and I fell in love with their versatility, beautiful and profound lyrics, and their rich melodies.
