Ranking K-POP Idols Based on Korean Beauty Standards: A Fun Experiment

Disclaimer: The Korean beauty standards (KBS) have been evolving, and South Koreans are starting to appreciate idols with unique appearances more. This experiment is purely for fun and explorative purposes. It does not represent the actual opinions of South Koreans or myself.

What are the Korean Beauty Standards?

Example: Red Velvet's Irene

Irene from Red Velvet is a prime example of the traditional Korean beauty standards. She features straight eyebrows, double eyelids, big eyes, a thin nose, a high nose bridge, full lips, a small oval-shaped face, and a V-shaped jaw, along with fair pale skin. Her facial features are well-proportioned, complementing her overall look.

Factors Considered for Ranking

In addition to traditional KBS, I am also assessing the overall facial harmony of the members. This includes how well their features work together.

Korean Body Standards

Long Body Length Slim S-Body Line

Members can be ranked for either a long body length of at least 165 cm or the appearance of being taller than they actually are.

Ranking K-POP Members

9 Hikaru

Hikaru scores 5/11 based on KBS. She has straight eyebrows, a double eyelid, big eyes, a thin nose, a high nose bridge, full lips, and a pale skin tone. Her overall facial harmony also adds to her score. However, she does not have the small oval-shaped face or V-shaped jaw.

8 Youngeun

Yungeun scores 7/11. She has a double eyelid, big eyes, a thin nose, and high nose bridge. However, she lacks straight eyebrows, small oval-shaped face, V-shaped jaw, and full lips.

7 Chaehyun

Chaehyun's score is 6/11. She has a double eyelid, thin nose, and high nose bridge. She lacks straight eyebrows, full lips, and small oval-shaped face, as well as V-shaped jaw.

6 Mashiro

Mashiro scores 7/11 with straight eyebrows, double eyelids, big eyes, a thin nose, high nose bridge, full lips, and pale skin. However, she is missing the small oval-shaped face and V-shaped jaw.

5 Yujin

Yujin's score is 8/11. She has straight eyebrows, double eyelids, thin nose, high nose bridge, full lips, and pale skin. She lacks small oval-shaped face and V-shaped jaw.

4 Yeseo

Yeseo also scores 8/11. She has straight eyebrows, double eyelids, big eyes, a thin nose, high nose bridge, full lips, and pale skin. However, she does not have the small oval-shaped face or V-shaped jaw.

3 Dayeon

Dayeon scores a high 9/11. She has straight eyebrows, double eyelids, big eyes, a thin nose, full lips, small oval-shaped face, and V-shaped jaw. Adding to her score is her pale skin and long slender body.

2 Xiaoting

Xiaoting scores 9/11. She has straight eyebrows, double eyelids, big eyes, a thin nose, full lips, small oval-shaped face, and pale skin. She is missing the V-shaped jaw but has a long slender body.

1 Bahiyyih

Bahiyyih ties for first place with Xiaoting, scoring 9/11. She has straight eyebrows, double eyelids, big eyes, a thin nose, full lips, and pale skin. She is missing the small oval-shaped face, V-shaped jaw, but has a long slender body.

However, Bahiyyih is ranked higher than Xiaoting for better overall facial harmony.
