For What Would I Sell My Soul?
Would one sell their soul for eternal happiness in this life and the afterlife, or is it a practice riddled with misconceptions?
My Position on Selling the Soul
The idea of selling one's soul is a concept that has intrigued and frightened me since childhood. In various myths and legends, such as the werewolf tale you mentioned, the werewolf would gladly sell their soul to achieve a desired transformation. However, in my view, nothing is worth selling one's soul for. I would never trade my soul for all the silver and gold in the world, not to mention the idea of even tempting Satan. He may take you up on your offer, but he's not biased; he loves suckers and the naive. Empaths, those full of empathy, are an affront to him because Satan despises empathy.
Seeking Eternal Happiness
There is, however, one scenario under which I would consider selling my soul: to achieve eternal happiness in life and afterlife if it exists. If the soul is the vehicle that carries us on after we die, then maybe losing control of it could still yield happiness. This thought leads to a philosophical question about the nature of the soul and its ownership.
Religion and the Soul
One’s soul cannot be sold, be it willingly or unwillingly. This belief is deeply rooted in the understanding that one’s creator, whether it be Gott, Allah, Brahman, or any other deity, owns one’s soul. One can compromise the soul through religion, especially fundamentalist and fanatical beliefs. People often justify lying, cheating, stealing, and even murder in the name of their religion. The more radical one's beliefs become, the less one truly knows, understands, or comprehends.
One can lend their soul to other entities, like mind and body, for a temporary period. In a way, the soul is already consumed or sold to satisfy the mind, body, wealth, and the fleeting pleasures of the senses. This raises questions about the true nature of soul and its role in our lives.
The Myth of Selling the Soul
The notion of selling one's soul is a myth. It is an unachievable concept for any human. In fact, one’s soul is a gift from a higher power, and one must plead to this higher power to release their life. This is where the soul resides. The act of commerce in the soul is ludicrous and goes against the very nature of our existence.
Conclusion
The idea of selling your soul for any reason is deeply flawed. It is a myth devoid of substance. One’s soul is not a commodity to be traded or exchanged. It is a gift from a higher power and transcendence. Instead of seeking to sell our souls, we should focus on understanding and valuing the life we have been given, and the gifts that come with it.
